Rotoconversion Energy Saving Method accepted into Tech Briefs contest
An inventor who proposed a system similar to the "Energy from the
Vacuum Cleaner" design I posted on April Fools day has had his Rotoverter
motor design accepted into NASA Tech Brief's "Create the Future"
contest.

Mayaguez, Puerto Rico -- On April Fools day, I posted an article that I made up for fun about
"Energy from the Vacuum
(Cleaner)". The article description read: "U.S. inventor, Dr. Thie, gets more than he had hoped for when he figures out a way to harness the vortex formed in his vacuum cleaner, combing the principles of quantum physics, Schauberger's vortices, and Tesla's radiant energy."
Thanks to being linked from Rense.com, the hoax story garnered more than ten times as much traffic as the next runner up in an
April Fools contest that was held at
BeforeItsNews.com, giving us the victory for the $100 prize.
One reader wasn't very impressed, saying: "Not funny. This totally sucks. Waste my bloody time. Rense is turning out to be an April fool too. Thanks but eff off!"
The next day, someone noted that there is actually a technology proposal along the lines of what that spoof article
presented, saying:

The person posting that comment apparently didn't realize that we are PESWiki.com; but neither did I remember that we had this article on our site.
The PESWiki page features an open source concept of harnessing the power of vortices in funnel like arrangements.
The following statement follows the image shown to the right:
"For co-generation the RV is also MOTOR generator initiator for this device; and it generates anti gravity (lift) in an effect described as centrifugal vector redirection, where rotary force transfers to a linear one by transition relative movement null. This has been verified from experimenting with sono-fusion turbines creating sonic rotary cavities for water resonance."
That article by inventor Hector Perez was first posted on our site on Nov.

Also on April 2, I was notified of the fact that Perez' Rotoverter technology
was accepted in to NASA Tech Briefs "Create
the Future" contest with an entry titled: "Rotoconversion
Energy Saving Method". Be sure to click through to see that
proposal to increase the chances of it winning (traffic is a major factor
considered).
That proposal apparently only conveys the motor portion of the vortex proposal
mentioned above.
It is described, in part, as:
"Method to operate a 3PH motor in simil to rotophase mode operation but
at specific high impedance to create a low loss energy transformation from the
electrical energy source to mechanical one, term = (Rotoconversion) electrical
energy to mechanical energy conversion with extreme low power loss and hi energy
savings.
"Rotoconversion motor was made from rewiring standard 7.5 HP 3PH motor (US
motor 3450 RPM 3PH dual winding 230/460 VAC) to RV hi impedance mode. Motor is
wired to hi impedance (460VAC) and run in 120VAC from any 60CPS common house
outlet or AC battery powered inverter (solar powered application).
Obviously, clear communication is not his gift, and you would have to know
motors and pay close attention to understand what he's saying. But
apparently, the guys at NASA Tech Briefs thought it had enough merit to
be a contestant in their contest.
Perez claims that his rewired Rotaconversion motor can cut energy waste by up to
90% compared to a conventional motor.
I'm not quite sure how significant that is because a good motor on the market
today is 95% efficient, leaving just the last 5% to improve. Less
efficient motors might be 75% efficient, and perhaps would be the ones that
could benefit the most from this technology. But I admit that I don't have
my head wrapped around what Perez is doing. I am aware that at least in
some of his Rotoverter
systems he is claiming overunity -- more energy out than what is required to run
the system (implying extracting energy from the environment in the tradition of
Nikola Tesla's radiant energy).
In a form response to Perez' entry, the contest administrators said:

A forum member said that this is the first time that "a public open sourced free energy oriented
technology is [being] accepted to compete in such a competition."
Perez posted a story
at BeforeItsNews about his entry, which is essentially the same content as what
he submitted to NASA Tech Briefs.
On a more weird note (as if my Energy from the Vacuum Cleaner story
wasn't weird enough), about six years ago, when I had a bit of a run in with
Perez, he sent me an email with a curse, saying something to the effect, "I
send your spiders." The night prior, before I had read that email, I
had a dream in which a 3-foot diameter spider was crawling up the wall of our
bedroom. That freaked me out, and I've not communicated directly with him
since.
Hopefully, he's backed away from that voodoo stuff.
I guess that goes to illustrate Sterling's Maxim: "An inventor's
eccentricity is directly proportional to how far outside the box he is."
